TOPIC: Newbie: Recording with S-Gear stand alone

Newbie: Recording with S-Gear stand alone 4 months 5 days ago #17856

Hi there

I need to decide which version to buy: Stand alone or plugin.

I have just purchased an Apogee ONE and I will be using S-gear for practising guitar, jamming along to backingtracks from Spotify. I might occasionally want to record a few minutes, just to listen for things to improve.

Can I record with S-gear standalone? If not: any suggestions?

Hi there,

no need to decide: you'll get standalone and plugin with your purchase. If you want to record, I'd still recommend to use S-Gear inside a DAW (you can get a free one like Tracktion 4 or Podium Free or a very cheap one like Reaper).

But with your scenario, the problem may be getting Spotify backing tracks into your DAW - so you might actually be better off using a tool called Voicemeeter Banana to merge Spotify and S-Gear stand-alone into one audio stream and record it at the same time. Voicemeeter takes a bit of fiddling to get it to work, but once it does, it's pretty powerful.

Cheers,

Torsten

Just search for "guitar backing tracks" and various albums + playlists will show up.
